A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Montfort regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
We at SW Wisconsin News are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our ongoing efforts, we have requested records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
The request has been made in line with our commitment to provide accurate and timely information about local government activities and elections. We will continue to follow up on this request and report any findings that emerge from these records.
