FOIA Request to Village of Boaz Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SW Wisconsin News have sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for records pertaining to new voter registrations. Specifically, we have asked for a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
Our role as journalists involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await the response from the Village of Boaz and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
