A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Plain regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024. The request was made by us at SW Wisconsin News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The specific information requested under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., is a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As a media organization, we believe in the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. Access to such public records allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively.
We have also sought a fee waiver for this request as we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. This access to public records is crucial for us to provide accurate and comprehensive coverage.
