A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village Of Gratiot, Wisconsin on November 7, 2024. The request was made by SW Wisconsin News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As a media organization, we at SW Wisconsin News believe in the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.
We requested these records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and expressed our preference for receiving them in an electronic format. Given our role in gathering and reporting news to the public, we also indicated that we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
Our aim is to provide the public with detailed information about voter registration trends and patterns. This data will help us shed light on the civic participation levels during the recent elections held on November 5, 2024.
We look forward to working with the Village Of Gratiot in obtaining this information and furthering our mission of promoting transparency in local government affairs.
