A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Cutler regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SW Wisconsin News requested a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we specified a preference for receiving the records in an electronic format.
As media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We look forward to receiving this information from the Town of Cutler as it will greatly assist us in our ongoing efforts to keep the public informed about important local government matters.
