A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Whitestown regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024. The request, submitted by SW Wisconsin News, seeks access to public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
The specific information requested is a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SW Wisconsin News believe that access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
