A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Bagley, Wisconsin, regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024. The request specifically sought a list of individuals who registered to vote on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
The request was made by us at SW Wisconsin News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we utilize the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to access public records.
We believe that access to these records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we requested a fee waiver for this information.
We await a response from the Village of Bagley regarding this matter and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency in our local government's actions.
