FOIA Request to Town of Freeman Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SW Wisconsin News have sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Town of Freeman. This request, dated November 7, 2024, seeks access to a list of new voters who registered on Election Day - November 5, 2024.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such records is essential for us. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
