Which Lafayette County school had biggest enrollment in 2024-25 school year

Darlington Elementary/Middle School had the highest enrollment among Lafayette County schools, welcoming 636 students during the 2024-25 academic year, according to a report from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2024-25 school year, 52.8% identified themselves as boys.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, accounting for 64.2% of the Darlington Elementary/Middle School’s total enrollment.

Among the 17 schools in Lafayette County, Darlington High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 263 students, while Belmont Elementary School welcomed 213 students and ranked third in the 2024-25 school year.

Darlington Elementary/Middle School is a part of the Darlington Community School District, which roughly covers schools within Lafayette County with its main office in Darlington.

In the previous school year, Darlington Elementary/Middle School also had the highest number of students among Lafayette County schools.

In 2022, the teacher-to-student ratio was approximately 1:14 in Wisconsin classrooms, compared to the national average of 1:16.

Wisconsin ranks 22nd in the U.S. for public education spending, with an annual expenditure of over $16,500 per pupil, totaling $13.8 billion.
