City of Lancaster issued the following announcement on July 12.
Warming House Shelter in Memorial Park will closed on Monday, July 12th through the end of September. The restrooms will be closed at this time and throughout construction. The contractor will be bringing in a portable toilet that will be available to the public.
Improvements to the shelter include:
Remodeling the men and women restrooms to provide handicap accessibility.
Moving the retaining wall on south side to provide handicap accessibility and visibility to restroom entrances.
Remove single pane glass windows and install glass block for natural light and security.
Repair cracked concrete in picnic area and apply epoxy surface to stop water from leaking in to the lower level.
Replace deteriorated facia boards, tucks pointing of concrete block in several areas, blast and paint exterior.
New energy efficient lighting inside and outside for safety.
