Shake Rag Alley in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, will host its annual Fiber Faire as part of the Cornish Festival & Celtic Celebration on Saturday, September 27. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will feature demonstrations, shopping opportunities, and a fashion show focused on fiber arts.
Demonstrations at this year’s Fiber Faire will include Maday Delgado discussing upcycled denim projects through construction, hand stitching, and disassembling used jeans. Carole Spelić will demonstrate weaving techniques. Shannon Badger and Dar Bicha-Dale are set to showcase spinning methods. Midwest Linen Revival plans to highlight sustainable flax growing and linen processing that supports local farmers and economies while fostering community building. Terri Wolf will present various felting methods, and sheep from Sugar Spring Farm will also be present.
A fashion show is scheduled for 2 p.m., inviting attendees to display their fiber creations and upcycled fashion items for recognition. The Sweet Life Ice Cream Parlor will provide snacks during the event.
Vendors interested in participating in the Fiber Faire Pop-up Market can rent a table for $35, which includes a six-foot table and two chairs under tents on the Green. On September 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., there will be a Makers & Shakers Art Party focusing on paper quilling led by Carol S. Getman. Participants receive materials including a quilling kit provided in memory of co-founder Judith Sutcliff; project fees are waived for middle and high school students.
The annual fall fundraiser “A Ghostly Gathering” is set for October 25 from 5:30-10:30 p.m., supporting Shake Rag Alley’s arts programming and historic preservation efforts; advance tickets are $25 via https://shakeragalley.org/ghostly-gathering/.
Trick’r Treat festivities take place October 31 from 5-7 p.m., offering family-friendly Halloween activities throughout Shake Rag Alley's historic buildings.
Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts was established in 2004 as an independent nonprofit school dedicated to arts education, workshops, youth programs, lodging, facility rentals, and special events in Mineral Point.
