Upland Hills Health leaders participated in a roundtable discussion with Senator Tammy Baldwin and local business owners to address the challenges and opportunities related to providing affordable and accessible healthcare in rural Wisconsin. The event took place at Upland Hills Health’s recently opened Mount Horeb Clinic and Urgent Care facility.
The roundtable brought together representatives from various sectors, including healthcare, business, and nonprofits. Upland Hills Health was represented by Dr. Mark Thompson, President and CEO; Dr. Sarah Fox, Vice President of Medical Services for Primary Care Clinics; and Jay Goninen, a member of the Board of Trustees.
Local business leaders who joined the discussion included Macy Buhler of Yahara River Learning Center, Robyn Kitson of Driftless Chocolates, Matt Raboin of Brix Cider, and Rachel LaCasse-Ford, President and CEO of the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce.
Participants discussed how policy decisions impact rural health systems as well as small businesses and self-employed individuals. The conversation aimed to share experiences from different perspectives within the community.
“Upland Hills Health is proud to serve as a voice for rural healthcare,” said Dr. Mark Thompson, UHH President and CEO. “Conversations like this ensure that the needs of patients and communities in southwest Wisconsin are included when decisions are made about the future of healthcare.”
“Protecting access to affordable, high-quality care is at the heart of what we do,” said Dr. Sarah Fox, UHH Vice President of Medical Services–Primary Care. “We value the chance to share how these issues affect our patients and their families.”
Upland Hills Health stated its continued commitment to delivering compassionate care locally: "We are committed to providing the safest and best possible experience for every patient that enters our clinics, our hospital, our nursing and rehab center, our medical equipment store, or who invites us into their home through Home Care or Hospice services."
