City Announces Selection of Jimsi Kuborn as Economic Development Director

City Of Janesville issued the following announcement on March 31.

After a comprehensive search, the City of Janesville is pleased to announce it has selected Jimsi Kuborn to be the City’s next Economic Development Director.

Kuborn comes to the City with extensive experience in economic and business development, having previously overseen strategic planning, business attraction and retention, and community initiatives. She most recently served as Executive Director of the City of Converse Economic Development Corporation in Converse, Texas. In that role, Kuborn managed the corporation's strategic plans, initiatives, grants, and incentive programs. She also completed a complete overhaul of the organization's processes, systems, data usage, website, and software. Notable achievements from Kuborn's tenure in Converse include generating $63 million in new capital investment and securing approximately 500 new jobs for the community between 2019 and 2021.

Citizens and businesses are investing in the community, and it is exciting to be a part of the continued growth."

Kuborn received her bachelor’s degree in Merchandising from Northern Illinois University. Before her role in Converse, Texas, she served as Vice President of Investor Relations at the Rockford Area Economic Development Council in Rockford, Illinois, and Director of Marketing and PR for the Chicago Opera Theater in Chicago, Illinois. Kuborn comes to Janesville with an impressive track record of community involvement, which includes serving as Chair of the SATX Regional Partnership and membership in the International Economic Development Council, the Urban Land Institute, and the Alamo Area Council of Government.

“Jimsi has a proven track record of economic development and will hit the ground running in Janesville,” said Deputy City Manager Ryan McCue. “We are thrilled to have her joining the team.”  

Kuborn will begin serving Janesville on May 2, 2022.

The City wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the staff of Redevelopment Resources, including Kristen Fish-Peterson and Dayna Sarver, who provided economic development leadership and technical assistance during this position's recruitment.
