Palmer Wading Pool and Rockport Opening, June Schedule Released

Pool

City Of Janesville issued the following announcement on May 26.

The City of Janesville Recreation Division will soon open its aquatic facilities for the season. The Palmer Wading Pool will open on Saturday, June 4, and Rockport Pool will open on Saturday, June 11. The City has published the June schedule for both facilities, available on the City's website. This schedule includes public swim sessions, lap swim times, and special-themed swim nights.

Of note, the Janesville Recreation Division is excited to debut its new Rubber Ducky Wednesday program at the Palmer Wading Pool. Every Wednesday, following the 3 p.m. swim break, staff will release dozens of rubber ducks into the pool. Children who locate special rubber ducks with stars on their underside will win a special prize.

The Janesville Recreation Division will offer public swim sessions at both facilities, typically three to four days a week. This session schedule is a result of the ongoing shortage of pool lifeguards. The City aims to continue with efforts to hire and train additional lifeguards to expand public swim opportunities later in the season.

The Janesville Recreation Division provides free lifeguard certification course opportunities to interested individuals aged 15 and older. To qualify for this training, lifeguard candidates must meet course skill requirements and intend to work at the City's pools.

For more information, or if you, or anyone you know, is interested in lifeguarding, contact the Janesville Recreation Division at (608) 755-3030 or apply at www.janesvillewi.gov/jobs.
