FOIA Request to Sauk County Regarding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Logs from January to October 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SW Wisconsin News have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for records from Sauk County.
The request, sent on October 7, 2024, specifically asks for a list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county between January 1, 2024 and October 7, 2024. The requested information includes the requester's name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as its current status.
Access to public records is essential for us at SW Wisconsin News in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await response from Sauk County officials regarding this matter.
