The Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, established by the Chamber last year, has announced the commencement of its grant program aimed at local nonprofits and quasi-governmental entities. The Foundation’s primary objectives involve promoting education and the arts, supporting public infrastructure, and alleviating governmental burdens.

The Foundation’s educational focus is on fostering collaborations between educational institutions and the business community to enhance student learning experiences and workforce readiness. Nonprofits qualifying under the IRS 501(c)(3) designation and governmental or quasi-governmental organizations in the Baraboo area are encouraged to apply for grants if their proposals align with the Foundation’s goals. Applications are available for download online, and applicants can seek funding up to $1,000.

Funding was made possible by donations from over 340 Chamber members, who were thanked for their contributions. Applications are due by August 1, with grantees being announced by October 1. Decisions will be made by the Foundation’s Board of Directors, consisting of Dan Lewison, Nicole Marklein, and Teddie Szydlowski. George Althoff serves as the Executive Director of both the Chamber and the Foundation.

In related news, the Baraboo Chamber will host the annual Golf Classic on June 24 at Baraboo Country Club. The event begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start and ends with dinner at Fore Seasons Restaurant. Baraboo State Bank and Sysco Foods have been announced as sponsors. Participation opportunities include playing, sponsorships, and donations. Registration is currently open, with specific fees for non-members and members. Sponsors and donors are still sought for various categories, including beverage and cart sponsors, silent auction, and raffle prizes.
