Richland Center, WI – The fight against cancer in Richland County is receiving a boost from a local organization. Greater Richland Area Cancer Elimination, Inc. (GRACE) has donated $40,251 to The Richland Hospital and Clinics to support the purchase of a gastroscope, an essential tool for early cancer detection.
Eileen Stevens, Board President of GRACE, emphasized the organization's dedication to community support. "100% committed to helping our neighbors and friends," she stated. Founded in 2004, GRACE ensures that funds raised locally benefit the local community directly. Stevens outlined the allocation of donations: 58% assists eligible applicants with basic needs like food and utilities; 25% goes towards cancer research at UW Carbone Cancer Center and Gundersen Health; 10% supports local medical communities; 5% is allocated for prevention events and education; and only 2% covers operating costs.
Since its inception, GRACE has distributed over $4 million in aid. The recent donation to The Richland Hospital and Clinics highlights their focus on rural healthcare support. This critical access hospital employs around 420 staff members across locations in Richland Center, Muscoda, and Spring Green.
Angie Coenen, Director of The Richland Hospital Foundation, expressed gratitude for GRACE's contribution. “The quality of care we’re able to provide for patients close to home is outstanding,” she noted. Coenen highlighted the importance of community donations in sustaining rural healthcare services.
"Health Care Here" is the theme of Coenen’s upcoming fundraising campaign aimed at bolstering local health services further.
