This summer, Meise Construction, Inc. from Sauk City, Wisconsin, will transport approximately 15,000 cubic yards of fill material from the Richland County Road O Project to a 40-acre site owned by The Richland Hospital and Clinics (TRHC).

The land along Highway 14 in Richland Center was purchased by TRHC as the intended location for a new hospital facility. However, in November 2023, due to increasing construction costs, the TRHC Board of Directors decided to delay the project with plans to proceed as early as 2032.

When financially feasible, it is estimated that contractors will require about 35,000 cubic yards of fill material for the site. Although not located in a floodplain, experts recommend elevating the building site. The fill transported by Meise Construction represents about half of this requirement. Soil testing on the fill has shown favorable results. In addition to delivering fill to the TRHC site, contractors will install silt fences and plant a cover crop.

"TRHC continues to work with Richland County and the City of Richland Center to prepare the site for development with the understanding that groundbreaking is years in the future." Meanwhile, due to delays in building the new facility, TRHC board members have directed several maintenance and repair projects at their existing hospital facility.

The Richland Hospital and Clinics is recognized nationally as a healthcare provider dedicated to caring for residents of greater Richland County for over 100 years. It operates an independent medical practice across three locations including rural health clinics in Spring Green and Muscoda and a critical access hospital at its main location in Richland Center.
