Upland Hills Health has been awarded three national recognitions by the American Heart Association for its outstanding heart care services in a rural setting. The hospital received the Get With The Guidelines – Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Referring Center Gold Plus, Rural Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Gold, and Rural Coronary Artery Disease NSTE-ACS Gold awards.
These accolades highlight Upland Hills Health's dedication to treating two major types of heart attacks—ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and Non-ST-Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome (NSTE-ACS)—with timely and evidence-based care. The awards underscore the hospital's ability to diagnose, coordinate, and treat these conditions effectively.
Lisa Schnedler, President and CEO of Upland Hills Health, expressed pride in their team's efforts: “Our community deserves access to the same lifesaving treatment available in larger cities, and this recognition shows that’s exactly what we’re providing.” Patty Hinderman, Director of the Emergency Department at Upland Hills Health, noted that receiving three national awards is a testament to their team's expertise and passion.
Karen E. Joynt Maddox, M.D., MPH, co-author of the American Heart Association’s advisory on rural health, emphasized the importance of equal access to quality care: “Where you live should not determine if you live.”
The hospital will be honored at the American Heart Association’s International Stroke Conference in 2026.
