State Senator Joan Ballweg spoke out in a video about Safe Haven Awareness Week, highlighting the importance of safe haven laws in Wisconsin. She emphasized the significance of these laws in preventing harm to newborns and shared her pride in the legislation she has worked on to ensure the safety of babies in the state. Senator Ballweg mentioned the use of baby boxes under the state's safe haven law and the requirement for instruction on safe haven laws in human growth and development classes.

Regarding turkey hunting season in Wisconsin, the Department of Natural Resources encouraged hunters to invite friends and family members to join the hunt. The DNR emphasized the importance of knowing hunting techniques, season dates, regulations, and safety standards to foster safe practices while enjoying the outdoors. New hunters were urged to complete a hunter safety education class before heading into the field alone, with additional programs available for those interested in learning more about turkey hunting.

The Wisconsin Conservation Congress and Department of Natural Resources also announced the upcoming Fish and Wildlife Spring Hearings, inviting the public to attend open houses and provide feedback on various natural resources-related topics. The Congress, which is the only statutory body in the state where the public elects delegates to advise on resource management, will be holding delegate elections at these meetings.

The Wisconsin Conservation Congress and Wisconsin DNR Fish And Wildlife Spring Hearings are scheduled for April 8, 2024, from 6-9 pm at various locations in each Wisconsin county. In addition, an online opportunity for public input will be available from noon on Wednesday, April 10, through noon on Saturday, April 13.

Local events in the area were also highlighted, including a free movie showing, community gatherings, and other activities happening throughout the week.

For more information on these events and initiatives, individuals are encouraged to visit the respective websites and resources provided by the Wisconsin Conservation Congress, Department of Natural Resources, and State Senator Joan Ballweg.
