FOIA Request to Town of Gratiot Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.

In our continued commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SW Wisconsin News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town of Gratiot. The request, dated November 7, 2024, seeks records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We will continue to keep you updated as we strive for transparency and accountability in our local government affairs.
