FOIA Request Sent to Town Of Boscobel Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024

FOIA Request to Town Of Boscobel Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at SW Wisconsin News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town Of Boscobel. The request, made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., seeks access to a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage, we believe access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the benefit of the public.

In our request, we also highlighted our eligibility for a fee waiver as media professionals engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public.

We await a response from the Town Of Boscobel and will continue our work in disseminating information that fosters transparency and holds power accountable.
