In January, The Richland Hospital and Clinics (TRHC) in Richland Center, Wisconsin, will embark on a year-long renovation project valued at $7.8 million. This initiative aims to address critical issues necessary to meet 21st-century standards of care. According to TRHC CEO Bruce Roesler, “These improvements allow TRHC to continue to provide exceptional patient-centered care without expanding the facility footprint.”
Originally, the TRHC Board of Directors and Executive Management Team had intended to construct a replacement facility. However, this plan was postponed by 8-10 years due to rising construction and material costs, as well as challenges in designing a building that meets both patient and staff needs within budget constraints.
Over the past year, discussions have taken place to determine essential improvements for the existing facility. The planned upgrades include select window replacements, limited exterior restoration, roof replacement, parking lot reconstruction, installation of a new emergency generator, light interior remodeling, medical gas system enhancements, HVAC repairs and improvements, plumbing work, fire alarm upgrades, electrical corrections for code compliance, finish upgrades in select areas, security access control improvements, and measures against water and pest infiltration.
The hospital has engaged BWBR as the architect/design firm; Market & Johnson Inc. as the construction manager; and MedCraft Healthcare Real Estate as the project manager. The renovations are scheduled to be completed by January 2026 with minimal disruption to patient services.
The Richland Hospital and Clinics is recognized nationally for its healthcare services dedicated to caring for residents of Richland County for over a century. It operates an independent group medical practice across three locations: rural health clinics in Spring Green and Muscoda and a critical access hospital at its main site in Richland Center.
