There were 359 students enrolled in Black Hawk School District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.9% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 58.8% of them were boys, and 41.2% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 95.8% of the Black Hawk School District total enrollment.

Black Hawk School District covers three schools within Lafayette County, with its main office in South Wayne.

Among the three schools in the Black Hawk School District, Black Hawk Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 165 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
