Enrollment at Wauzeka-Steuben School District decreased by 18.7% compared to previous school year

There were 209 students enrolled in Wauzeka-Steuben School District schools in the 2023-24 school year, 18.7% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.2% of them were boys, and 48.8% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 94.7% of the Wauzeka-Steuben School District total enrollment.

Wauzeka-Steuben School District covers three schools within Crawford County, with its main office in Wauzeka.

Among the three schools in the Wauzeka-Steuben School District, Wauzeka Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 98 students in the 2023-24 school year.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
