Platteville School District had the highest enrollment among Grant County districts, welcoming 1,544 students during the 2023-24 academic year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.2% of them were boys, and 0% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 98.2% of the Platteville School District's total enrollment.

Among the 10 districts in Grant County, Lancaster Community School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 999 students, while Fennimore Community School District welcomed 836 students and ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Platteville School District roughly covers schools within Grant County, with its main office in Platteville.

In the previous school year, Platteville School District also had the highest number of students among Grant County districts.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
