Taliesin Preservation has introduced a new self-guided tour experience for visitors at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin estate in Spring Green, Wisconsin, starting May 1, 2025. This self-directed tour option allows individuals to explore the site at their own pace, utilizing an iPad loaded with exclusive audio and visual content designed to enhance their visit.
Elizabeth Maske, Taliesin Preservation Communications Coordinator and co-creator of the tour, said, “Visitors will be able to hear Wright’s voice and watch archival footage of him, see original drawings, and view rare snapshots of the Taliesin Fellowship. They’ll even witness personal moments like Wright enjoying coffee and playing piano in his living room.” Maske further noted that the tour allows participants to "learn directly from Wright himself as he explains signature elements of organic architecture in his house, such as corner windows and cantilevers."
The tour, narrated by Erin Crowley, Taliesin Preservation Tour Manager and fellow co-creator, offers flexibility for guests to explore the estate in an engaging and interactive manner. Carrie Rodamaker, Executive Director at Taliesin Preservation, described the self-guided tour as a commitment to innovation and accessibility, stating, “The self-guided tour represents our commitment to innovation and accessibility. We’re excited to see how visitors will interact with this new tool and discover Taliesin’s beauty in a new way.”
Key features include the ability for visitors to take the tour over 60 to 90 minutes, immersing themselves in Wright's ideas through rich audio and multimedia content. This initiative aims to appeal to those interested in a more personal exploration of the estate, complementing the existing guided tour options.
The self-guided tours are available daily in the afternoon and are part of Taliesin Preservation's continued efforts to provide a comprehensive and inclusive experience to a wider audience. Additional details and booking information can be found on their website, TaliesinPreservation.org.
